Campo de Ourique was designed with a rectilinear layout, mixing today beautiful buildings from the late 19th century, Art Nouveau and 20th century architecture. It is known for being a pleasant neighborhood to live, for still having traditional commerce and its old market.
It is, by excellence, the most familiar neighborhood of the city and the stores, cafes and restaurants where the younger ones are welcome multiply. Campo de Ourique is still one of the best places to have a neighborhood life, with an extensive catalog of stores and restaurants, hairdressers, pastry stores and cafes that feed the lives of families who live there and regular visitors to the neighborhood.
Campolide, these hills hide a quiet and safe neighborhood, mainly houses from the 1970s. It is heavily built up, but an interesting change of scenery is the neighborhood of Calçada dos Mestres, where homes with backyards have been built. Old people, families, and young people populate Campolide. Most of the commerce is concentrated in the Amoreiras shopping center, which was the largest in Lisbon until just a few years ago.
